Wigan Borough Icons

We are looking for children ages 5-11 to design an illuminated artwork for Light Night Wigan - following the success of last year.

This should be based on someone from the borough of Wigan that YOU think is an Icon! This could be a sportsperson, famous musician, or scientist, from the past or present, or someone in your community who is an absolute hero.

Last year Ella Toone, Andy Farrell and Crusty the Pie were made into neon artworks - so please choose other heroes to draw!

All you need to do is draw a full length picture of your chosen icon - from head to toe - including any props you think might help identify them - and send us a photo of the drawing.

The 3 winning entries will be chosen by a panel comprised of Hacker T Dog, Blackpool Illuminations, Things That Go On Things and Antonio Capelao (Soho Kids Xmas Lights) and translated into life-size neon artworks for Light Night Wigan 2024.

Format and Deadline :

A4 colour full length drawing of your icon - from head down to feet

Please add who the drawing is of, your name and your age to your entry plus your Wigan Borough postcode and a contact number / email for a parent/guardian.

Please send a photo of your drawing with the subject WIGAN BOROUGH ICONS to: thingsthatgoonthings@gmail.com

OR post a paper copy to The Turnpike Gallery, Civic Square, Leigh, WN7 1EB

Deadline is midday on 27th September 2024. .
